Presumably you parked over the line in an attempt to get the rear number plate in the middle of the space...? Whistle Rolling with laughter

Clearly the D is longer, wider and a little higher than the D3 / 4 , is not?

Looks like D5 has a lean to the left there, must be slope or optical illusion....

WRT Moo's observations about colour shrinking a car. I was in the dealers showroom yesterday and there was a all black D5 and in front a white D5 with graphite pack (looked really good) the white one looked massive I actually thought the all black one was a sport even though that was the the car nearest me.

I was speaking to one of the owners of our local timber and fencing suppliers this morning, he and his brother both run D4's and D3's before that, his 11 plate HSE was being chopped for a D5 until he test drive one, he cancelled his order and picked up a 66 plate last Saturday Shocked

Whilst picking it up a D5 owner who had traded is 15 plate D4 was returning his D5 to the dealer and picking up another pre reg D4 in preference Shocked Shocked

Can't be good for LR Confused

I've only one minor gripe, I keep banging my head on the A-pillar, I think I just need to refine my seating position. The D4 I needed my seat all the way back this one has acres of room behind the wheel.

I can't see me going back to a D4, like I did with the DS, any time soon.

I've had adults in the back, not on a long journey, and no complaints so far, though time will tell.

Yes, my hope is that LR will learn from their design mistakes and improve the next D5 generation. I'm definately not buying this first batch. They look wrong. It somewhat reminds me of Porsches 996 with their ugly headlights...owners at the time were not convinced. Porsche went back to the original headlight's design as soon as they could with the 997 model Laughing and it's still going strong today!

I think that the Range Rover Velar looks a beautiful car though...so LR can make it!

I wouldn't mind LR releasing a Velar lookalike 7 seater! 8)

I mentioned on a previous thread that a pal of mine had a D5 for a long weekend and did some serious mileage in it. He and his wife loved it, although were disappointed in the loss of space and practicality over their D4, however, the kids really hated the seats. He recently had a XC90 on test and has ordered a XC90 T8 hybrid.

His reasons being:

Reduced tax
Fuel economy
The kids liked the seats (this was the deal breaker)
Ergonomics, styling, fit and finish
Boot shape and practicality

He never goes off road and doesn't tow and felt the XC 90 more than met his needs and the kids were comfortable.

That's my experience with my RRS2. It's the rake of the windscreen, which brings the top of the A pillar towards the driver's head. I'm 1.89m tall and I have to bend my head low to enter/exit the RRS2. I thought this would be less of an issue on the larger Disco but clearly it's in the LR DNA.

Talking about DNA, the exterior shiny bits will show scratches just like the RRS2; the surfaces are very soft, particularly the gloss black plastic covering the A, B and C pillars. Be careful washing it and be careful when reaching over the A pillar to wash the windscreen; the button on your shirt can scour the surface like a brillo pad.

One question please,
is the operation of the air suspension in the same way?
I mean if you can hear the sound of the compressor and its snorting as in the D3 / 4?
thank you very much

I can confirm the air suspension works silently.

The suspension controls in the boot is handy, used them a couple of times. Also auto access height is a nice feature.
