18's V 19's - sizes question.

Had 5 spoke 18's and now changed for RRS 19" V spokes. Q: Do they have the same back depth/offset ie do the 19" ones stick out as far as the 18's? Don't know whether its an optical illusion but the 19's don't seem to make the car look as wide as the 18's did. Maybe just the profile of the tyres?

Brings me to second question, Does anyone use tyre size 255/60 19 on Disco 3? The 18's are on 60's but it looks like the 19's would also take 60's and fill the arches better?

Do they 'stick out' further though?

Any ideas about 255/60 19's?

Don't think anyone's tried the 255/60/19. The MTR's are pretty big when they're on at 255/55 There is a tyre size calculator link somewhere in the site Wiki.
You just need to be careful on the weight rating of the tyres, needs to be rated to 111. Do you have the RRS tyres on the RRS rims? if so, then you're likely to get a puncture earlier than using the right weight rating. Your insurer woiuld probably also take a dim view as they're rated to only 106Y (or 107).

Everyone's going on about weight ratings and I take your point, I certainly want to stay safe and within the 'law' but Ken seems to know something/be of a different opinion.

Yes I am using the RRS tyres (Goodyear Wrangler F1 M+S extra load) but only because I couldn't bare the thought or afford to take off a set of brand new expensive rubber to replace them with marginally different ones. Ideally I'd have them replaced with 255 55 19 Grabbers as I think they'd be better suited to off road use too but can't afford such a change at the mo.

Considering keeping my 18's with Scoprpions for off road and run the RRS set up on road until the tyres actually need replacing.

1. Is the 107 load rating REALLY REALLY going to effect me? and
2. How are the RRS tyres mentioned going to perform off road in relation to original 18" Scorpions?

Thanks for any feedback.

107 is to low but 109 is fine just remember tyres are not just made for LR however an eagle eyed insurance insurance inspector may/will have a different view

England

LR are now spec'ing 109's on the 20's for D4, and 109 has always been OK for the D3 in Oz.

With regard to looking right, its probably that your current tyre on the RRS 19 is a 50 series, not a 55, so is slightly smaller than the 255/60x18 you took off.
