2 Year Service - Top Tips?
Wondered whether you could give me the benefit of your knowledge on servicing the long-haired general's tank? Great motor but its coming up on two years old (I've only had it a year) and approaching 20k miles and reading some of your threads on Indys versus dealerships, warranty issues and so forth - really useful but couldn't find answers to this pretty simple problem. Assuming I'm keeping the car for the foreseeable future are there any pitfalls with using a specialist over a dealership concerning warranty? Does anybody have good recommendations for either in the Swindon area? Many thanks.
Indy usually does only whats in the book - some stealers do add in little extras that help keep yr D3 tip top.
As for costs if you shop around then stealerships very competitive at the moment versus Indy, some cheaper

Not ALL indies just do the bare minimum
I can service your D3 to LR schedule at your location on a 'A' service (45k / 2 years) using genuine parts for a competitive price

It's an interesting point this one.....in theory you can use anybody to service your D3 (including doing it yourself) as long as the service is done to LR specifications - that includes materials and workmanship - if this is done correctly then there should be no warranty implications.
If you had a warranty problem it would be easy to prove that your D3 had been maintained to LR specs by simply saying that a LR dealer had done the work......but how would you go about proving the materials and workmanship of an indie if LR decided to question it?
Has anybody ever had a problem with this?2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
