2010 D4 high beam wayyy too high
The high beam on my olYog3 is way too high, so high it’s owl spotting in the trees and at not much distance away,
I’m talking about the halogen bulbs btw.
The xenons seem to be fine adjustment wise.
So before jumping on here and asking, I did a tinternet search, and it seems the Aussies have “possum spotters” too.
It’s quite a narrow band of light hitting the tree tops
And nothing in between.
Adjusting the unit down apparently makes the dipped beam too low.
Is there a different bulb I could lob in that would alter the pattern a bit.
Others have suggested bending the tab on the bulb so it sits at a slight downward angle..
Any thoughts please guys

Don't shoot me but........ are you sure the bulb is properly seated? Seen it many times with headlamps resembling WW2 searchlights

That was my first checkpoint
I bent the tab and just been for a drive..
Blooming moon spotters now
So tomorrow will see me tilting the bulb the other way, it’s only a couple of mm
But made a heck of difference
Just the wrong way....

You can get this problem with cheap non branded bulbs although it seems to be confined to D4’s, it what is known as progression It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It’s a problem with the headlamp unit design, not bulbs or seating of bulbs. Good for spotting owls in trees, nothing else. My xenons in the D3 were far better than my D4 on high beam.

Ah, missed that it was halogens. My xenons obviously we’re doing the same in sympathy.

Yes, it's a known problem with D4 halogen main beam alignment. Here is an earlier thread with some solutions: https://disco3.co.uk/forum/halogen-lights-alignment-42173.html. My quick-and-dirty solution was to bend the ring of the bulb to get the bulb sitting slightly tilted.

Bulbs bent the other way
Tab took off so bulb clips in better
I think I may have bent too far...
They are now hitting the road 3m in front of the car
At least it’s going to be a “fix” when I’ve found the balance
