2013 HSE Lux > 2016 Landmark, main differences are?

I went to the local dealer today to talk about a new Defender. It didn’t go well, in as much as they couldn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know, and I wouldn’t be able to drive one until January, and maybe I could own one by June if I was lucky, but only then if I chose the 4 pot engine.

Looking at other options. There was a 66 reg D4 Landmark in Yulong on the forecourt. It stood out from the rest, and looked very neat parked on the grass bank next to the only Defender they had for sale. All the rest of the jelly moulds were lined up as though they were on parade!

For 10k less than a base Defender, I could have this.

What are the main spec differences between my Lux and the Landmark? A quick glance down the list says it has everything mine does, but is Euro 6.

Minor differences, some HSE Lux’s were E6

Guernsey 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Landmark LE Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

Landmark over Lux (13)
stop / start
Ad blue
cheaper tax
more mpg
smoother quieter ride
in control apps (fwiw)

Think both should be fitted with Adaptive Bi xenons
(not sure re Lux def Landmark)

No rear air con on landmarks, some had fitted cooler box, no HBA, no wade depth, no blind spots, no remote heater though timed fitted standard

Both had heated steering wheel.

depends what was specked on your LUX as to what you might be missing out on

Cheers. My Lux is pretty much fully specified. Only thing missing is Tyre Pressure Monitor. It doesn’t have rear aircon either, but I don’t recall that being an option when I bought it?

Anyhow, I’ve cooled on the idea overnight. The sums make it quite an expensive swap, for a newer version of what I have.

Especially now I’ve had my car valued! I’m still mulling it over, but I think I’ll keep looking.

I’m in a similar position of considering ordering a new defender vs getting a one owner, low mileage, last of the 2016 D4 Landmarks. The plan is run this for a couple of years, before selling a still low mileage car and purchasing a nearly new Defender. The last few ive enquired about (at Main dealers) aren't great, in the past week ive had a 66 plate, 3 year old car that’s been serviced once since new and the one today has had 3 registered owners in the last 3 years. The hunt continues.

I’m currently in a (sort of) similar position in that I’m considering moving from our current 57 D3 HSE to a late model HSE Lux. (2015 onwards)

I thought the HSE Lux was a higher spec than the Landmark?

Edited to remove my stupid question asking for a link that has already been posted to this thread!

Here it is. It’s metallic white, unlike the normal Fuji solid white of my current. It’s actually a nice shade when parked next to Fuji.

I think this particular example is a couple of grand over priced.

It might have 5yr service pack, should be 2 left on it, but seeing its 66 plate doubt that will apply as Landrover seemed to drop it on the very late reg's.

Prob better off without TPMS, not that accurate can have a variance of over 5psi per tyre and makes wheel / tyre changes a pain or and more expensive

Rear aircon was deleted as an option for EU6(def) models. When i ordered my last HSE Lux we enquired with landrover got answer back saying it was for weight given the DEF system addition.

we added every option available of which there weren't many left over the standard lux spec if i recall it was

+ Remote park heating
+ driver assist pack
+ In control apps
+ Park assist (think that's what it was called)

As mentioned, the HSE Lux was available right until the end of D4 production and was in fact a higher spec (and cost) than the Landmark. Most dealers are morons and all claim the Landmark was the halo spec D4 for the last couple of years production. Simply not true.

I just came off a 3+ month search for my D4. It took ages to find mine with Black Pack, Exterior Detection Pack, and Vision Assist Pack. Most of the options weren't even available on Landmark.

(Someone earlier posted what you can't spec on the Landmark)

The Landmarks had a lot less colours to choose from, lacked the slightly thicker feeling perforated leather steering wheel of the Lux, sometimes came with the cheaper wheels from the HSE (rather than the Lux’s diamond cut ones), some had wood(ish) trim in place of the piano black trim and the radiator grille was painted black, rather than silver. Apart from that, the roof rails were silver, rather than black and I believe some of the Landmarks left the factory with the cheaper sound system.

The sound system, wood/plastic trim and the wheels seem to have been subject to clearing remaining parts! Rolling Eyes

As an O Reg white car (albeit Yulong, not Fuji) , I’d really like to be sure that it didn’t serve it’s first 6-12 months as a LRE car Shocked
