2013 LR4 interior creaking
Potential new Disco owner here.
Just test drove a 2013 LR4 HSE with 70k miles. Have never driven (let alone owned) a Land Rover. The drive was smooth as hell with engine and wind noises subdued to levels, which gave me a literal eargasm. What surprised me however was the creaky noises the interior plastic parts made. A slight nudge with a knee on the center console or a gentle push with elbow on the arm rest and the resulting creaky noise was pretty annoying. The creakiness was also evident, when driving on a bit rougher country road (not talking about true off-road here, mind you).
Is this normal for Discos? Or potentially vehicle-specific and hence a showstopper?
Having just gone from a D3 to a D4 I reckon the D4 is built using lesser materials in some areas, whether this is to reduce weight or just take cost out of the product i believe my D3 was built with better material internally than the D4.
Far less rattles & more solid trim in a D3 that is 9 years older & almost 4 times the miles on it than the D4

The sunroof on my long gone D4 would drive me potty.

That's some sweet music to the ears. Were you able to fix it?

This is actually across the board with all makes. My Ford S Max which is on an 09 plate has a MUCH better-made interior than the 2020 version. It is actually partly to do with making cars lighter and recycling requirements rather than just about cost-cutting.
That car does not creak anywhere compared to the 2020 which does. Overall I find the D4 a pretty quiet car!
Kindest,
Jonathan

No. Sold the car a year later so it’s prob still chirping away somewhere.

Yeah. I'm dying from a lefthand middle row seat with a slack latch/flip mechanism that rattles on bumps, some sort of endless dash rattle up near the windscreen, plus some major plastic rattle in the boot area. Kill me now
