My 2016 Landmark

Hi
I've been here a while now having bought my D4 a few months ago. I'd always wanted one and it took a while to finally decide on this one, it ticked all the boxes for age, spec and mileage. Have to say I love it! I know it'll need money throwing at it to keep it maintained but you just can't beat the smile it brings driving it.
I had always planned on personalising the car and having it the way I wanted. I was trying to remember all the things I'd done to it so thought I'd make a list.
No.1 Bought a GAP tool
Changed front Grill to all black including LR badge
Changed bottom front tow cover to black
Fitted black covers to fog light surrounds
New black bonnet lettering
New rear lettering and Black LR badge
Fitted RLD (Uncle Rays) wheel protector (Clever, good bit of kit)
Stripped and refurbished wheels and had painted black
Bought and fitted removable towbar holder in boot.
Led Light upgrade on all interior and number plate lights
Prospeed Lightbar with Laser Lamps
Prospeed brackets for front round Harkorr 9" lamps
Changed long silver rails to short black so can fit Prospeed roof rack
Prospeed roof rack
GAP BT Tool purchased
Fitted Zanadoo half shelf in boot
Rear rubber boot liner
Mercedes Bottle jack.
Upgraded to ACC!
Upgraded reversing lights to LED.

From what I can see on your avatar that looks great! I have also completed the black out look.

I have pretty much done all you mention to my 2014.... I had to add the seats and wheel though as they came un heated in the "commercial". I have also added a TDI tuning box.

I am interested in your lights up front.... where are they from and are they an easy fit? Thumbs Up

Congrats, I think I just bought the same car. Good taste Smile

I haven't done all those things yet but have been looking into the Prospeed rack particularly. How do you find it? and what are you planning to use it for?

Top Light setup is Prospeed Light bar (Not the raised air intake version)
2 x Lazer Triple-R 1000 Elite
2 x Lazer Triple-R 750 Elite

Front lights are
2 x Hardkorr’s new 9 inch Ultralite Series LED Driving lights. These were a Christmas present from son in Australia and were sent from Oz.

Brackets are Prospeed front spotlight brackets but for round lights. I had to ask for this specifically rather than the standard Lazer square lamps.
I had a local Auto electricians do the wiring and I'm please with the work they did. I got them to put two switches inside to isolate them when I want to.

The Prospeed spotlight brackets are ok, the round lamps do end up with a little wobble when driving along. I may look at fabricating something at a late date to fix this as it'll annoy me.

I have a couple of Kayaks and have been thinking about a roof top tent for next years camping adventures.

I do find the rack a little noisy especially after about 50MPH, nothing terrible but thought I'd mention it.

Was just going to ask you where your proper pics were (rather than just your avatar).

Very 8)

Btw, thought you’d have gone with a front protection plate rather than just paint the plastic cover.

Thanks.
I have looked at the plates and like them, I may change to one eventually but it's hard to know a good one from a bad one. From the looking around I'd done, they all seem to different it how they fit. DO you know a good one?

I can recommend a RLD sump guard rather than just a black tow cover and also Prospeed rock and tree sliders would look 8). I have them on mine with the step inserts and they are superb.

Thumbs Up

I like the rock sliders but have to get an elderly relative in and out, I'm not sure the step will be helpful as it may not be wide enough for them. currently I use a wide step aerobics step and that works well for them.

How does the RLD one fit?

RLD fit is very good. I decided not to remove the front wheel splitters completely and just trimmed them to the right width and I also trimmed off the excess plastic that hangs down when you remove the tow cover. This gave a much tighter fit for the sump guard. I also took a bit of length off the front bolts to bring it up tighter. Thumbs Up

Mine is also RLD, excellent bit of kit, have always had them ….. on my D3 then MY11 D4 and current D4.
Well made and great value for the money …… plus Uncle Ray is a smashing chap. Thumbs Up

I too kept the side spats and just trimmed down & contoured.

But, I did leave the plastic trim that runs along the subframe (reckon I’d want the D4 to be able to go back to standard if/when I ever move it on). I’ve added aluminium spacers (in *red) to get a snug fit over that trim.
*= red, so my LR indie can easily see them when they remove the plate for servicing.

I’m running Shires tree sliders, have had them on for over two years and finish is still excellent.
(There was some issues on the finish previously, but reckon they've since upped their game).
They’re good solid heavy gauge and protrude enough to be able to use as a step up to the D4.
But if I were to use them for that, I’d add some of that heavy duty abrasive tape.

Got pics in my gallery of sump plate & sliders fitted ….. don’t want to flood your thread with pics. Thumbs Up
