2017 budget and Disco 3 road tax

Am I right in thinking that my early 2005 Discovery 3, 2.7 will go into the ยฃ500 road tax band from April 2018.It was in the lower band.

Pretty sure it was just the first yearโ€™s VED but wasnโ€™t paying much attention as wonโ€™t affect me.

11 D4 HSE - just Dee, no more Double Disco. Sad

Is that because the D4 is already the highest band?

I hope not Big Cry it's very unusual for the price to go up on individual cars that are already taxed, usually all or none, except new registrations.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The way I understand is any diesel car not meeting current legislation Euro 6 would move up a group so yes all older vehicles will be affected.

Not sure how that will effect later D3's as already on top band

But it's the older ones they want to get off the road

That was the way I picked it up, that all older diesels would go up one band.Daft thing was when I bought the car over 7 years ago there were two Discovery 3's next to each other, with only six months between registrations ,mine on a 05 the other on a 56.I bought the 05 as the road tax was about ยฃ250 less, now they've done this.Tories

1st year ved will go up a band if not euro 6.
Doesn't apply to cars already registered. Thumbs Up
Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

DS3 TDV6 HSE- Silver with Alpaca (new one) Gone

The Budget had a couple of big announcements for car owners.
The first was that fuel duty would be frozen again this year, while the second was higher taxes on new diesel cars.
Under the changes, new diesel cars registered from 1 April 2018 will be hit with higher tax unless they conform to the latest real world driving standards, the RAC says. "Crrent beleaguered owners of diesel cars can breathe a sigh of relief that they will not be punished further by the Treasury."

So there is a diesel god for Land Rover owners.

Unfortunately can't see Land Rover /Range Rover being a brand loved by the like of fellow enthusiasts in the future if they keep on hitting the movement with taxes.New vehicles are for the very rich who use them as status symbols, unlike the people who love the brand.Once the rich move onto the next must have brand where are Land Rover /Range Rover going to move their vehicles to?
Current models are:
Over priced
Over engineered
I've enjoy doing bits and pieces on my Land Rovers during my 20 odd years of brand loyalty ,but it's getting harder , the new vehicles will be impossible to work on and too expensive to put on the road, making a second hand vehicle a lot less attractive to potential buyers like me.

I'm a bit puzzled.
If the new first year VED extra ยฃ500 only affects NEW diesel CARS (not Vans) not meeting EU6....
How many NEW Diesel cars do not meet EU6??
I would have thought that almost all would?
