Dealer got the wrong tyres for me, reconds there not much different.

He also says there more expensive but will let me have them for the same price.

Insist on the correct size, dealer is trying it on Evil or Very Mad

its not just size, its weight rating as well, as usually 255/50s will be rated at 106 or 109 (oe even 103), which is too low for the D3.

there will be a -3.34% difference. So at 70mph you will be doing 67.66mph.

this is useful site for explaining everything tyre related http://www.carbibles.com/tire_bible.html

There may also be an insurance issue if you have an accident Exclamation

I didnt look at the Load index, but I had that in mind.

I was aware that they would under read as well - was going to use it as a an excuse when I got pulled for speeding Whistle

I was looking on Goodyears web side and couldnt find that size listed.

Ok, will ring him back and say no thanks

Thanks

Glen

So having just bolted 275/45/20 onto the D3 will the speedo be giving me a false reading?

Confused

not by much, as 275/45x20's are the closest 20's to 255/55x19s (standard HSE tyre). When your speedo reads 70mph, you'll be doing 69.3

However once again keep them away from the load index might be lower than you think Whistle

I have cancelled them, might just go for ATR's in the correct dimension if the dealer can get them.
