2.7 TDV6 2008 HPFP Removal

Does anybody have any advice on removing the two torx bolts on the rear of the High Pressure Fuel Pump. I can just about get my fingertips on the ratchet spanner. The torx bolts are not very deep causing the T40 torx bit to flop about. The next thing will be stripping the bolt. Then I'll be in trouble.

I haven't. I've got myself some new torx bars in a T shape which I can just about hold square onto the torx bolt. I'm pulling with some might but they aren't shifting. Was the cable tray easy to remove? It would be a breeze if the plastic skirt above the cabling came out as well. Then I could get my large socket set on it.

there is a post form Disco Mike on how to do the cam belts. on the beginning he starts by removing all cable trays and cables from the engine. once you do that you will see that there is enough space to remove HPFP. in fact you have to remove also the rear belt to remove the pump, so follow that post and once everything is stripped then follow manual on how to remove the pump.

Regrettably one of the torx bolts has now stripped. I had bought brand new torx fittings to give me the most positive connection. I managed to get a lot of pressure on it but to now avail. I'm going to try and weld a nut to the head of the torx bolt to remove it. Failing that it will be engine out. Or more likely put it back together and put up with going into limp home mode after an hour of driving.

These torx bolts have a thread lock on them and are stiff to get out, you need to get a torx socket and ratchet on them, they are awkward at the best of times. Put the socket in the bolt head and give a hard as you tap with a hammer, then try to loosen them.

I have a few tight ones.
