The 2nd Issue - Wheel Bearings

Well the car was back in to the garage last week, diagnosed requiring 2 wheel bearings.

Conveniently, they are apparently on back order. Great. Waiting for a date to get them back in stock.

Hopefully this will be the last of it for a while.

Should I be expecting/request a wheel alignment at the same time?

He does normally, but on backorder which is why I bought it in prep for the Durler trip in May.

We talking front or rear wheel bearings here - I have changed about 4 front hubs in the last 3 weeks and have got parts next day. Try BEARMACH

I'm needing 2 fronts, the alternative is to wait for one to collapse then call LRA! Judging by the noise they are making might happen sooner rather than later!

Are they both making noises? As far as I know only the right side ones go like early. Had mine changed at 60k km. Checked the second one on the break tester after I replaced the right one. No loose direction any more when breaks are fully applyed. I know most services recomand you changed them both but since you buy them by piece not by pair it saves money..

N/S front is the common culprit but the other side is usually not long thereafter - with me couple of months gap.

I suspect one went just before the other. Does appear to be both by the noises they make under turning.

No bothered either way as it's warranty work anyway.

if the bearings are on the way out change them asap or dont drive it.

i continued to drive my failing rear wheel bearing in France and it cost me 1,600 Euros !!!! (rear bearing only cost £80!!!)
