Bigger?
Hmm... Very difficult. As it is now, I had to cut 1" out of the chassis and made some attachments to make sure the plastic lining did not hit the tire.

And truthfully, the clearance with these tires is as good as a jeep with 35".
What I think has made a huge difference are the full undercarriage sliders, I dont plow that much through the mud...
My next 'upgrade' is to construct the A-arm sliders (fairly simple, just no time...)..

I'm getting ready for a 24hr competition.

I was thinking along very similar lines for mine...but due to other circumstances it'll be up for sale by the weekend Big Cry

Had thought of putting 16" BMW rims on with some competition-spec tyres and a similar amount of bodywork modification. Oh well...at least when I get the next one I know what I'll be doing first Thumbs Up

24 hour competition sounds 8) .

Thumbs Up enjoy the car!!

bulldocer:My LR3 is V8 and can only fit 18"... I do have the air suspension, my car does only have 18k miles... Do you feel the car is better offroad with springs? You loose the cross connect... I've always being paranoid of the air suspension offroad, but so far so good. I did invest in the Black-box FCR, and will be getting fittings to independently air them up in case of failures.
The 11,5 width tires will probably work without having to cut into the chassis (also depending of the offset of the wheels).

RPG: To bad about the LR. Hope things get better. Co-driver... Have one Smile ... It's funny PR is VERY small. There are only 2 LR3's that offroad. The other is of my co-pilot, so he will be a lot of help. Here people use the LandRovers mostly as a status symbol, so when I show up in the LR3 in the events, it creates all kind of reactions and disbelief..

for sure the car goes better without the air suspension, because the koni suspension has longer bufers and longer springs. so as much you lift it up the air suspension, the harder it'll be, because it is like a spring. the koni suspension is incredible when you drive very fast on a bumpy track, the wheel is in contact with tho ground all the time....( I'm telling this because I've a friend that has it, and I tried it.) I'll let you know when i change it, and I'll put some pictures...

regards

Interesting. Makes sense.
Would like to see how it would perform in rock crawling and off-camber...

I really like the raptor. It's too wide for offroading here... But for Baja style racing it's ready.
It whould be one of my first choices were I to replace my pickup truck. The interiors are nice and has lots of technology.
Now, it is heavy and has a big engine, so it drinks quite a bit.

Well I'm lucky. My swmbo does not mind. It's MY car, and she says, that's better I do this, than going drinking, womanizing, smoking, etc.....I actually spend a lot of time home taking care of the car. Kids love it.

AND She's even got videos/pics of what I'm doing... Thumbs Up

Her car is 'better', nicer, and I keep it showroom ready, so no complaints there.

Now, the funny thing is that she wants her next car to be an LR WITH the offroad bumpers and a tire on the roof! Rolling with laughter
