Saw two extremes of fuel economy this evening. 150 miles from M6 J36 to M54 J6, needing to kill some time, so sat at 54mph in the slipstream of a lorry - 45.2mpg average. 130 miles from Telford to Swindon (in more of a hurry ) 21.7mpg.

Amazing isn't it. A bit of slipstreaming makes you realise how, AHEM, unstreamlined the D3 is. My V8 does 34 when slipstreaming but when giving her the boot that turns into about 18.

done 998 miles in the last week, reset the computer at the beginning, upto bristol steady 70, then upp'd ( a bit honest) to Loughborough, dropped to 24 mpg, since then upto edinburgh and back at 72 cruise set the whole journey,
so the comp is on cumulative and am now back upto 28.1 mpg. and that's with one egr valve sticking which is bound to not help, AT2'S and a full load but no roof rack etc. going to carry on the 70 cruise upto and back from manchester see if i can't get it a little higher..one wife.......livid

28.1 on the trip will normally be between 25 and 26mpg in reality.
