Technically yes, but only if it's got 4-CAS (Air suspension) and even then you will probably have to get it though MoT or something similar before it's legal.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Best look out for a 7-seater, as the cost would be prohibitive.
Don't forget, even the airbag system is different between the 2 types ...Regards,

row 2 is different on a 5 seater - you'd need to replace the 60/30 bench with the three individual seats AND add the third row seats
and thats before you go anywhere near what it says on the V5C and issues associated with thatSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
I converted my 7-seater into a 2-seater... Was I supposed to tell the DVLA?
I'm back to 7 seats now, I only ask out of curiosity.

There's been discussion on here before - I think its only an issue if you INCREASE the seat count not DECREASESteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

It's not just a case of adding the seats, you need the seat belts and associated trims, then you need the head impact airbags for the third row passengers, which of course means a different main loom and different vehicle configuration etc.

I've been looking at this option too.
- Aren't the seat belts integraded in the 3rd row seats?
- You dont realy need the airbags, do you?
- Are the fixation points in the car there to mount them or do you need to sort that too?CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

I don't know whether u need the airbags or not and yes the seat belts. Are intigrated.I was lucky enough to buy my 55S with 7 seats factory fitted i correct me if iam wrong but I think if you change the number of seats it would need to go for an inspection with vosa!and also the cost of having it done properly would be silly.

Figured it would be handy for the odd occasion they are needed. If I could get them for 300 (ebay currently) and its a straight fit then it seems worth while.
And for the MOT, I can just have it approved as a 5 seater and keep them down though I cant see why it wn't pass an MOT when installed properly with belts.
Question still remains; will it be a straight fit?CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

The seven seat version is only type approved for air suspension so would fail an MOT due to this several people have been caught out in this part of the world when they have converted 7 seat TD5s to coil suspension the MOT inspectors have had this issue brought to their attention by VOSA.

As you can see from my pic
The seat belts are not integrated into the third row seats, but the rear pillar.

Electronically the Car will not mind if you have 5 or 7 seats, but i think it is certainly it is something you need to look into the all other aspects of first.
Mounting points for third row belts will likely be fitted in all body shells.

Buy a 7 seater!! Lots less hassle and better resale. Saying that my 7 seater is a 2 seater, no probs with MOT and ins co happy with change. Sorry seats not for sale as will be put back to a 7 seater at some stage for resale.
