Another little job ticked off the list today... Clear side indicators fitted, made sure to source ones with silver reflectors and buy chrome bulbs as i just think they look a little better...

Nice motor - look after it
& most of all enjoy it - its a classic vehicle
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Little bit late to update but had a busy weekend, the local 'independent specialist' wanted £712.49 to replace the alternator! No chance...

Ordered a Denso from Advanced Factors using the forum discount code and then got another local independent to fit it, if i hadn't been working all week and needed the car for this weekend just gone i'd have done it myself...

Total cost in the end £276.65 fitted... And i have kept the old one so may take it apart and see whats gone with a view of keeping it as a reconditioned spare... (Anyone know where i can get alternator spares from?)

Engine off...

And then at idle...

Much better and I have put 400 miles on it since fitting and it's been faultless Thumbs Up

Next little jobs when the bits arrive are Keyfob recon, LED bulbs for interior, Spare wheel anti theft and valve extension fitting... Hopefully the aftermarket warranty will pay me back for the alternator soon enough and then i'll get the aircon regassed and a few other bits done...

New Nuts...

Well as mentioned somewhere above, a few of the wheel nuts on my car had deformed/expanded so i have spent the morning hammering a socket on them and getting them off, they are now replaced with shiny new ones Smile

And i had ordered some LED Bulbs for the interior, not sure what I was thinking when i did because i didn't get enough... 7 done on the interior, all on the roof bar the boot sides, and put a couple in the rear number plate lights, now just waiting for some more to turn up so I can do footwells, puddles, the remaining 2 in the roof and front sidelights... Nice white light Smile

Well after last nights DRAMA the most important job of the day was to pull off the battery connectors, give them a clean up with some emery cloth and get them reseated nicely, nice easy job which went off without a hitch...

Checked the torque on the new wheel nuts i fitted the other day...

Fitted the remaining LED bulbs, Puddle, Footwell, and roof sides in the boot, the puddle light in the NSF Door has a broken lens so i've ordered a replacement for that, also the NS Roof light has a dodgy switch so i'll source a replacement one of those...

While the bonnet was up i also removed the siren, not tested it yet, will disturb the peace when i get to work later... Noticed the AUX battery tray had a broken clip on the surround so will source one of those too...

And then i removed the MAP sensor to see what state it was in...

So i cleaned it up and refitted it...

Wasn't particularly dirty so not expecting any change but it's nice to know it's now clean...

Is there an easy system to look up part numbers? I can see me needed more little bits and pieces as time goes on...

Couple more bits done today, going down to the south coast week after next so any expensive bits will have to wait until i have recovered from holiday expense...

Today i fitted some wind deflectors, sometimes it's nice to have some fresh air instead of aircon but without getting blown to pieces... (And my aircon desperately needs regassing, it's on the list... lol)

And i replaced the broken puddle light in the bottom of the NSF door, which LR are kind enough to supply with a bulb, which went straight in the bin and got replaced with an LED...

Aircon regassed today, OMG what a difference! They said 130 out and 810 in, which is a huge difference and the change is very noticeable...

Also got a detachable towbar and have checked my 12N electrics, i'll check my 12S socket later, i've also got a 13 Pin adapter for if i want to borrow the parents tin tent, really starting to look forward to some adventures in this car as it comes together... Smile

No, really easy...

Roll the window down, peel the back off the tape, slide them up the inner rubber so the tape doesn't stick to the outer, manipulate them in to place, then shut the windows for an hour which will push them to the outer rubber and hold them in place while the double sided sticky takes hold.

Then pop the windows down again and insert the 2 metal clips in the top of each channel to make the deflectors stay in place, take the hours wait out of it and your talking 30 minutes work tops Thumbs Up
