56 reg disco3 won,t start or crank engine

I thought at first that the battery had failed but 2 battery starter packs could not turn the engine. Battery appears to be OK so assume it is electrical. have disconnected battery for 1 hour, then touched the terminals and refitted the battery to have a system reset, but it has made no difference. Any thoughts as to what is the matter?

Does the starter click?
If it clicks but doesn't turn its normally the Mega fuse built into the battery terminal and that normally blows when the engine is seized Andrew

If the fuse on the battery terminal has blow, this can also be down to the cable shorted on the front diff.

Also:

Could be the relay under the bonnet marked SM. Try hitting or swapping it

Move the gear selector into N see if that helps.

What is the red light on the dash doing ?

Try the spare key incase its the imboliser

Hi Pete K. Thanks for your suggestions. Tried the spare key, no joy. managed to flick the SM relay and motor did turn. So no earth faults. removed several ECU's , to check for water damage, no joy again. may investigate the imobiliser again as the alarm sounded the day before and doors would not lock. Have access to LR reader so that hopefully will help.
