6 Speed Box - feels a bit lumpy and hesitant at times

Seems to be a lot of posts about the autobox but can't find any definitive threads that match my experiences although some seem similar so forgive me for starting a new topic.

Most of the time the auto-box on my MY11 D4 changes really smoothly but I have noticed a few times that it feels a bit lumpy and can be hesitant to change. It's all fairly minor stuff but as I have a full warranty I guess I am trying to work out f these things are just traits of the 6 speed or if I ought to be thinking of getting it looked at and if I do take it in, are main dealers using the 'flush' technique to sort things out?

The (minor) issues I have are;

Coasting to a stop from a reasonable speed there can be a bit of a clunk/jerk as it drops down to 1st or 2nd

Rolling at slow speed (sub 20mph) then accelerating gently, can sound like its going to stall (engine dips) then changes down a gear and picks up fine but 'snatches' occasionally

The feeling of 'drag' when coasting along and also holding the gear and not changing up.

I've not had it long so could the box just be learning how I drive? It is an LR Approved Used vehicle so would hope the dealer had done any software updates/resets as it did have a full service before delivery (car is on 57k miles). Am I expecting too much? Compared to our Hyundai Santa Fe whose autobox is silky smooth, the D4 box can feel a bit crude. I have a feeling the previous keeper towed a lot so would it be due a fluid change?

Software updates are not applied during a service unless required to address a customer concern, or as directed by a campaign from LR. They will not routinely diagnose fault codes either unless a concern is raised.

Given the milage I suggest a regular drain and refill of the gearbox oil.

Thanks, just feels like I ought not to have to pay anything at this early stage of ownership so perhaps first thing is to contact dealer (although expect they will say there is nothing wrong!)

Yes it is less than satisfactory that JLR still cling to the idea that the ZF box does not need to be serviced before 150k, despite the contrary advice from ZF.

JLR's only concession to servicing of the box is for 'severe duty', yet they are unwilling to define a meaning for that phrase. Interestingly enough the majority of the JLR fault-finding routine for the ZF box includes a double-flush as part of the diagnostics, whatever the milage or age….

When it comes to the auto - service early, service often.

I have recently at 110,000KM, had harsh shifting especially from 1-2 and at time snatching at traffic crawl speed.
I had the solenoid seals and accumulators renewed in the mechatronic unit and after a reset the box is good again.
I have also changed the fluid and put the metal pan on at 60,000KM.
