Hi everyone,
I am noticing on the dual carrigeway that the gear box is a bit sluggish at changing into 6th gear?
I can be sitting at 70mph for a min or two before it changes??
Is this an issue with the box, esp first thing in the morning?
I have it in normal auto mode.
Cheers
Allan

Allan,
I don't think it is sluggish. You will find that the computer determines when it is appropriate to select 6th.
You might be crusing on the flat and think that it should be in 6th but if there is ahead wind the auto will stay in 5th.
I found this happening quite often in mine.
You can force it into 6th by selecting Manual mode and pushing up the lever then select Auto mode again and you will see the engine revs drop down but if the computer sensors a high enough load it will drop back to 5th. This has been my experience anyway.

Unless I'm mistaken, the auto box is 'adaptive', in that it learns your driving style and works accordingly. Perhaps this reluctance to change into 6th gear suggests that the previous owner liked to exceed the speed limit
Suggest relaxing the pressure on the right pedal a bit to try to let the box know that you are not going to want a burst of power. Alternatively, push the stick to the left and forward then back to D to force a change into top.
FWIW, the box will accept 6th gear fom 50mph onwards.

Hi,
Thanks for the info
It was really helpful
The only reason I noticed was because of the revs being above 2000 at 70mph, as its norm on 2000 at 70mph.
It was a Land Rover car prior to me owning it. I am guessing it may have spent a fair bit of time cruising on the motorways at more than 70mph
Cheers,
Allan

I find that even in commandshift mode, the gearbox will override my wishes in the first few minutes of running in the morning. I go up a reasoably steep hill that could easily be done in 4th with a warm engine, but it resolutely stays in 3rd when the engine/gearbox is cold, even though the display changes to what I selected.
