Hi

I've just bought a 2012 HSE with 106k miles. It's (over)due a timing belt change which I'm getting done at an independent specialist, and while it's there I'm getting them to give her a visual and diagnostic inspection along with a full service. Are there any other things I should look out for at this stage in the vehicle's life?

Inlet manifolds have a habit of splitting. It’s a known manufacturing fault.

Don’t forget the rear pump belt must be included, some places tend to ignore it as it is very fiddly and time consuming.
Also worth considering the auto gearbox oil, 80k miles Recommended by ZF the gearbox makers for none towing cars even less if it towing regularly.
 It can when others can't,

I confess that I am very careful if with engines. I would consider replacing the oil pump when renewing the front and rear camshaft timing belts, tensioners and tensioner bolt.

It's a peace of mind thing to some extent, but also the engine must benefit from the higher pressure from a new pump.

I bought a 2011 XS 12MY last year in pretty much the same circumstances
Plenty of service history but no evidence of a belt change

I booked into my local LR dealer for convenience more than anything, and because the fixed price servicing came in at roughly equivalent to an independent garage
At the time it was £690 for the cambelt service, and £500 for a major service.

But be warned that IMO, under the fixed price servicing LR don't do everything they should and I don't believe they changed the rear belt even though the invoice said they did. A week after I got the car back it was back with them for a body off job to replace a 'sheared bolt' on the rear belt. All at their expense to be fair.
 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten
