from compmotive:

We recommend the following for touring and medium off-road work:

a.. General Grabber AT2 255/60R18
b.. Continental CrossContact AT 255/600R18
c.. Yokohama Geolander AT/S 265/60R18
d.. Cooper ATR 265/60R18
e.. Goodyear Silent Armor 265/60R18
For more serious off-road (but will need light plastic cutting):

a.. BFG AT 265/65R18
b.. Cooper Zeon LTZ 285/60R18

For very serious off-road (will need more modification):

a.. Maxxis Bighorn 275/65R18
b.. Hankook MT 275/65R18

Note that I have BFG AT2's 265/65R18's on with no modifications needed, work in lowered, normal, off-road, and off-rd+3" heights without modification and no signs of rubbing.

No rubbing while turning in lowerd access mode?
Thinking of putting 265 65 18 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W on my lady's D3 in Cali. and Keeping her D3 suspension stock.

not that I've noticed. Note it doesn't spend much time in lowered mode - had no issues in multi-storey car parks, though, which is the typical use case. Most reports I've seen suggest that if it does happen, it's minor and only when tyres are very new, and only on the plastic arch liner too.

But for me, no issues.

Did you have to redo the alignment when you put on the 265 65 18's or just left it that way? Did you have to recalibrate the air suspension? Also what psi are u filing up to now for street/ on road?

As suggested above 255/60R18 is recommended & causes no problems.

I have used General Grabber AT2 255/60R18 & was delighted with them. Good under all normal road conditions & off-road - I got over 40k miles from a set of 4, with the spare unused.

Don't forget that if you use "non-standard" size wheels and/or tyres you must advise your insurers.

I ran 285/50/20 on my last d4. Slight rub on full lock when in access. But all good.

From what I can find out reading numerous threads on here, 255/55R20 is about as big as you can go. I don't think there are the tyre size options to go slightly bigger.
I was wanting to fit 275/55R20 Duratracs on standard landmark wheels but I think they rub slightly without steering lock spacers or wheel spacers. Happy to be proven wrong Thumbs Up

Just mounted 285/50R20 (R2 SUV) on ET53 landmark rims (511 and 10 spokes for instance) on mine. No rubbing and looks much better. Also gives a nice overhang to protect the rim. Still does not look like a tractor (even though I wanted to go 18 someone else did not approve of the meaty look...so a compromise).

I think the crucial point here is to get the ET right. This was also what I concluded when reading a lot of posts before making a decision. When summer comes I will put some LTZ in the same dim on a set of 511 I have prepared. Hope that will be a great compromise for a do it all rig.
