It's a bit short and low for a deliberate "keying". Probably a clumsy shopper with handbag or shopping bag...
Still though.
I've joined the league of those who park way away from the supermarket entrance. Then it rains, of course 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

a smart repair might fix it for you.
you should get most of the lighter scratch out with good old elbow polish.

i continue to park well away from the low life barely insured adults (not Stereotyping male or female), with bashed up motors that in their day had class.........Whats ever worse is the ferrel kids that are allowed to launch themselves out of the rear doors and bash our doors..........
No consideration, not a care in the world, they could'nt give a toss,,,,,,,but if they had their own D3 it would be the same story as us...

do you suspect deliberate or accident (shopping trolly with L plates) ?
I thought I read some where that leave it in extended mod with help stop this as they hit the side rubbers!!
shame it happens to any car but more so on such an expensive one; like MacLead I feel for you.

The clean patch surrounding the scratch could have been done by a coat/bag; the scratch from a zip/stud.

After reading on the forum about putting the car in the raised position so that the steps take the nudge thats me now . Feel for you mate as it winds me up when people have no consideration for others cars. If its been done intentionally then the ers want stringing up.

thanks for the kind words guys, i've calmed down (a bit) now!
I think it was some lazy who just blundered along getting into their car. Car park was absolutely rammed so was already quite far from the entrance. Got home and noticed the mirror was in so they must of hit that too and they would surely of noticed, then i saw the scratch the clean bit is where i wiped it with my sleeve in disbelief!
Going to try chips away or whatever they're called.had some minor scratches,bit of bumper scuff and some interior trim scratches so was going to be calling them anyway but this is bound to bump up the price and is now the main task.
My new plan for supermarkets is:
1.offroad height
2.take up 2 spaces (park on the center of the white dividing line!)
3.if its busy ie saturday, don't leave car.other half will have to deal with shopping!
4.remember to have bat/claw hammer/2x4 when performing step 3......

as an afterthought to my last post, i did think of cctv footage but going by our cctv at work the chance of the cameras being on that spot of carpark at that time enough to see clearly and being able to read number plates is prob pretty slim
As for plod i don't think they'd care.
House was burgled in Jan, had a phone call a month or two ago..."just to let you know about your burglary Mr............, we have no leads, no idea of a suspect, nothing from forensics and not much chance of anything"
