Acctone smell
Hi Folks,
My 2006 D3 has developed a strange Acetone like smell when its been standing for a while. I'm not loosing any coolant and it really doesn't smell like that, it seems to go once I start up. I'm guessing its the aircon leaking but it still works fine and seems efficient. it doesn't smell in the engine bay and the pollen filter has been changed back in the summer.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Cheers
Dave

Sometimes when the Air Con hasn't been used for a while it becomes 'foosty'.
Usually an anti-bacterial and odour treatment cures it

Not really relevant to the topic but great for an exiled Scot to see the word "foosty". the spell-checker is going bananas. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

Airwick air freshener remove pollen filter and give it a good spraying then spray the rest of the car, might have to do it 2/3 times but its pretty good, hides my damp dog and cigars from the world
Fabreze removes the cloth trim off of the a-pillar posts and stains the roof lining so dont use it! also the frsh smell just doesnt last like the airwick.

Hyperglycemia. The acetone smell comes from your body having too much ketones (of which acetone is one) and in the need of insulin. It’ll lead to [acute] diabetic ketoacidosis which is quite bad for the Pt.

Ha so I have an Hyperglycemic car
I'll get some air fresheners and see if it disappears in time, not had anything leak in there and it goes once the cars been running for a while its just there when you get in. The garage tell me its not the air con as the refrigerant doesn't smell......
