I will hopefully be getting my bumper off this weekend to see if I have the cabling before I buy anything.

So I took the bumper off this afternoon and very disappointed to find no cable on the cross member or anywhere else I could see. Big Cry I am assuming that cable clipped above the horn is NOT it (no idea what it is mind).

So, unless I am blind, it isn't going to be (easily) possible on my 2014 car.
I would urge you to have a look before buying all the bits only to find out it is going to be a bit tricky/less straight forward/not possible.

So, has anyone any ideas where the cable that is missing on mine comes from (or could be hidden) and is it easily added before I put the front end back together?

Cheers.

Did some digging and it should be obvious - an 18 pin connector.

I'll have another look in the morning the see where it hopefully might be hiding but not holding my breath Crying or Very sad

Doesn`t look like you have the wiring as it is quite obvious once the bumper is off as is it sits on the front of the top crash bar and is clipped into 1 of the 4 raised holes near the middle of the bar. Big Cry

Here’s a sample picture of a D4 at a wrecker yard, is the wiring in yellow the loom we should be looking for?

Yep, that's it. It's an 18 way connector, not 10 as I previously put.
I don't have it so put all mine back together for now.

Not quite given up as I am sure it is still possible.
I'll have a search/read to see what is required to plug where and how time consuming it is.

Yes, that`s the wiring although the D4 in the pictures has the wiring but did not have ACC as the blanking end cap is still in place on the wiring plug!

that's exactly why I am asking. I was hoping to be able to avoid touching the airbag...so I'll better go to a shop.

It is quite easy with the correct tool. You need to follow this guidance in the LR manual regarding SRS components:

But do it at your own risk and you should not work on the SRS system unless you are qualified to do so. Whistle .

There is a guide on powerfulUK's YouTube channel - search "Upgrading a Land Rover Discovery 4 steering wheel to paddle shift" - on how to get it off.
I bought one of their tools and found I had to file the tip off a bit as it was slightly too long to fit under the clips. Patience is the key with it but you need to have the tip of the tool facing you/the rear of the car when you want to pull the clip.

I just took my switch pack off mine and this is how I did it.

Disconnect battery/batteries and remove all devices from the 12v sockets.
Wait 10 mins by having a cup of coffee
Rotate the wheel to get at the two LHS Torx screws and undo and remove just these two. You don't have to take the wheel off.
Pop the airbag out using the correct tool and follow the guide above.
No need to disconnect the air bag cables just gently rest the airbag on the wheel so you can get at the switch pack.
Remove the cables on the switch pack.

Not fitted the new one yet as it is on order. I left the batteries disconnected for now.

Even though I don't have the cable at the front for the radar (yet), my connectors are fully wired so as long as the new switch pack has the identical plug/pins it should be fine...I'll check before I collect and pay for it tomorrow and I did look at the wiring diagram.

I fitted my switch pack the other night with no issue. Airbag popped back on no problem.
Not driven it so no idea if the cruise still works though.

To complete it I am just waiting on a radar unit and the correctly coloured cables, connectors and convoluted tubing needed to make up the new loom. Thumbs Up

Has anyone else taken their bumper off and found no cable?

My new to me MY16 LR4 came with adaptive cruise fitted as standard. I've had the car for a month or so but only did a road trip yesterday for the first time. I used AC for the first time also and I have to say it's great. You can adjust the distance at which it follows the car in front. The shortest distance is probably what most would use otherwise cars just keep cutting in front thinking your a lane-blocker (although since I'm in the US where lane-blocking seems to be a pre-requisite for learning to drive, and where most can't drive for Censored , the pressure's off). I had mine set at 75 MPH for 2h pretty much solid; we hit traffic for some of it and the AC braked and accelerated perfectly well. I did take over at one point when things were getting a little close but I think it'd have coped. I also have the forward alert system, which picks up cars crossing inside a set safety distance. Because it's the US that activated a lot. Overall I think AC is a great bit of kit. Well worth persevering with the mod for those of you doing it. Good luck to you. Thumbs Up

Hello,
I saw your recent purchase Thumbs Up
If you have an IID tool can you maybe put a list of the ECUs and config you have?
I have rear alert but was hoping the forward was part of the ACC radar.
Thanks

The forward alert is part of the ACC radar and when configured correctly adds the option to your vehicle set up menu from where you can tick the box to activate it. It is in the same menu as BSM, etc. It brings on a green warning triangle when active. All the CCf changes required for ACC are listed on the Discovery-parts.DE website under Land Rover things. There are 8 changes in total. I did one other that was collision avoidance braking. Like Pagoda I have found it is a very worthwhile addition to your car. Thumbs Up

I do have an IID tool and will take screenshots and upload - just confirm where you want me to go in the tool and which shots you'd like for the avoidance of doubt. I can probably get to this today or tomorrow as i'm away with the family to am quite happy to spend time in the car Whistle .

@Dondiddy: I'm not sure I have the forward collision avoidance function. My forward alert function is just that: an alert. It doesn't brake the car at all. Can I activate collision avoidance using the IID and if so, can you advise? Thumbs Up

Pagoda, Do you have access to the full (untested) CCF list from Gap?
