Thanks for the detailed steps.

Finally all parts arrived. We had a bit of holiday break here in US, so got to work. The radar fitting was easy - took a bit of time, but no issues whatsoever.

Then came the most frustrating thing - taking off the steering wheel airbag. I've been on that one freaking thing for 3 days now. Went out and found other tools, modified the tool, putting all the pressure in the world, but just can't set off the spring.

Is there a trick to it? I have no clue what I'm doing wrong here. I've checked all the youtube vids I could find (just 3, two by powerfulUK, and one other), but I can't tell what I need to do or what I'm doing wrong..... still stuck with this problem.

best way and easiest is to unscrew paddle shifters as those would nicely expose where one needs to pull the airbag locks

you do not even have to disconnect them just pull away to expose access hole Wink
good luck

I have a video that might help

In the meantime here are some screen shots.

The sequence shows first where the hole is to enter a tool. In my case the tool was a small 90 degree pick which i filed off the point to make it the right length.

Then the next pics show what the inside oif the wheel looks like so that you can visualise the tool entry and the fact that you have to twist it 90 degrees to engage with the wire.

The last shots show the tool engaged on the actual airbag wire. When you feel this then pull directly away from the side of the wheel.

There is not a great pressure required and obviously it needs to be done both sides, these pics show the right side.

Hope that helps. It,

s very worthwhile getting it done

Thank you Greg and Andy, very helpful. After three days of frustration, got it done within 30 minutes with your help. My problem was, the hook end of my tool was too big, cut it to size and filed it down a bit. Smooth sailing after that.

Reached out to Pat who said that I already have the correct firmware. Just need to change CCF and calibrate. When I started that process, found only 2 of the 8 CCF edits (similar to somebody else on this forum). Followed up with Pat to open up my CCF full list. Will provide update.

One curious thing, how is it that I'm on the correct firmware? I did work with Pat once before to flash software in order to be able to program new fob. Wonder if that's how.

I'm very keen to join the club just confused about which of the many available radar units are suitable.

It all felt a bit of a minefield so I feel your pain. Well worth doing it, I'm really pleased to be in the club now!

FPLA9G768AC - worked for me on my 2016 D4 Landmark if that helps. I paid £250 from Fleabay.

That's great glad you got past that hurdle, well done!

My radar was also the FPFA from a RRSport .My challenge was that the Cruise Control Module did not initially show up on the ID tool ECU list. I had to run a fault test to sort of initiate it. When it was re flashed by GAP it changed to FH22-. But I am pretty sure the VIN number had to change also as the donor car was obviously different. Something to check with Pat perhaps.

The next challenge for me was using the correct bracket as it requires a chunk of plastic to be cut out to accommodate it, which was unexpected. The good news though is that the line was marked on the plastic to follow and get the exact cut-out correctly done.

ha, the first time the bumper came off it was full of dirt. These pics were right at the end when I had cleaned it after getting fed up with the usual dirt in face syndrome

Thank you, got it for £213 Very Happy

When you refer to the switch and bracket is the bracket you're referring to the one at https://britcar.com/product.php/454656/0/c...o_ga999999
