Aftermarket wheel Supplier

Morning All,

Firstly, apologies if I am advertising here but this is not my intention. Rather, I have come across a supplier and wondered if anyone has had dealings with them or NON-OE wheels in general. I do want them to do some off-road work and will be putting AT rubber on.

Most of my wheels need refurbishing and I have realised that for not too much more, I can buy new. Not too sure which rubber I'm going for yet but that's a separate discussion.

Thought I would head toward the lower end of the selection but some of them look really good. Is this a really bad idea?

I can't see any max load info on any of those wheels.

The D3 is a heavy old beast, and you must have wheels capable of taking that weight.

LR wheels are rated between 950kg and 1050kg IIRC

Be careful to know what you are buying.

D3 alloys are rated at 940Kg - RRS at 900kg. There are plenty of genuine LR alloys for sale, both on here and eslewhere - so why not just go for some of those?

Also, its not uncommon with non-oem alloys that hub the center hole isnt correct, so you end up having to use centering rings, and also need to use different wheelnuts - so these make those cheaper wheels not so cheap in the end. Also, check the offset of any non oem alloys.

Just popped your vehicle details into their web site.
It comes up as “no suitable wheels for your vehicle”
I’d move on and deal with a known 4x4 company if you want aftermarket wheels.

After much research and some valuable advice on here I just invested in some new wheels and tyres from here. A friend has them on his D4 and raves about them and I think they’re a fair price including the K02 rubber

Thank you for the responses and it seems the best thing to do is to stick to OEM or specialised dealer such as is in the bottom link.

The reason I wanted aftermarket is simply to have something different. I spoke to the chap from the website and he assured me that the weight of each wheel would be within spec and he could offer datasheets with this information on request for each wheel.

I ran the search a few times for a D3 and each time I got over 200 hits so I can't comment on why you got zero.

I do however worry at needing additional spigots or whatever to make my wheels fit so unless I can find a set that does not need them then I won't be buying any.

What really worries me now is that I have been reading threads which advocate 18" so now I'm rethinking this whole thing...Smile Currently running 19".

Don't forget if you fit non JLR OEM wheels you will need to advise your insurer.

I have found lkperformance to be excellent and reasonably priced.
They do a range of load rated wheels and stock a range of tyres to match..(including Scorpion atr plus)

I have recently ordered some from the black rhino range here
