1) you need some gas in the system for the compressor to pump the dye around and reach all the parts. And significant pressure for it to leak. bit of a non starter idea I feel.
2) The yellow sticker on the slam panel may indicate dye installed at factory, so you maybe ready to look now.
Professional air con diagnosis is always worth the money. BY AN A/C Specialist. (not some tyre fitter)
You can then DIY change the component and take it back to be gassed
Hi Pete
Thks, Will have a look at that label and indeed agree ref the specialists instead of tyre companies
Will finally be starting all my rear wishbone work this weekend so will sort this out later in the year
Thks again

How did you know the condenser was your problem?

Just had my air con blanked off to fix the leaking rear pipes. All done but the garage says that still not working as the compressor isn’t working now, new one plus fitting around £800😱. I’m not spending that amount so I have a question or two
1 is there any way to check it is actually the compressor and not something else stopping the system kicking in (I think I’ve got a stepper motor code showing up, I’ll read them again later)
2 does it need a reset after regassing
3 is it worth looking for a 2nd hand compressor? (Anyone got one?)
4 anyone suggest anything else?
Going to have a large whiskey tonight, feeling depressed now😭😤😡
Cheers
Graham

My air con failed and it was the compressor. Bought second hand on eBay and fitted myself.....2 day job and had to go in through wheel arch and front combined. Wouldn’t recommend unless you have someone to help and a lot of patience and leather hands with arms that flex in several places! (Sorry- probably not the answer you want to hear!?)

I bought a couple of o ring kits from eBay a few years ago. They came in handy for all sorts of things, pressure washers, plumbing, caravan. All different sizes in them.
Maybe worth a punt?
