The airbag light has come on when you switch on after about 4 secs it goes out then comes straight back on and stays on..
have checked the wires under the seat and they look ok
I had a brakelight out which i have changed as someone said that causes strange things to happen... but its still on.. if it was the brake light would i have to reset anything to make it go out?
or what else could it be.... apart from a faulty airbag of course

Clock spring?
Does it tend to come on when you turn the wheel maybe or is it always 4 seconds after starting the engine?
Although the indicator shows an airbag it could be any part of the SRS system - drivers/passenger, curtain, 2nd row, 3rd row or even impact sensors.....it doesn't necessarily relate to the drivers airbag, although the clock spring in the steering wheel is more often than not a likely culprit
Have you done any other changes to the D3 recently? Wiring in new things, stripping down panels etc? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

no.. haven't changed anything
seems like after 4secs (ish) it is due to go out,, but comes straight back on
stays on permanently.. guess i'll have to have the codes read to see if that gives a clue

As Paul said it could be the cock spring. There is a recall notice to modify affected VIN's which should have prevented this problem. Do a search on airbag light and it should come up SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

mine did this , and i checked everywhere, under the seat , clockspring ect.
It ended up been the wire running from the drivers seat belt tenstioner, the wire was getting trapped when i drove the car ( i lowered the seat when i got in the car ) never came on with wife driving as she always raised the seat!
I know you said you have checked under the seat but have you looked at this?
You could get the code read or plug in ito a machine with live data which may give you a better idea of the problem. 'Just because you're breathing doesn't mean you're alive'
