As a recent purchaser of my Java Black 2006 Disco 3 i have noticed when i remove the iginition key prior to getting out of the car the red warning /alarm light starts flashing. I had not noticed this until today, is this normal and i simply had not noticed before or has something changed.....

Yes it is normal, just shows the imobiliser is already working  Zermatt silver 06 reg.
Gone but not forgotten !!!
