Alko Hitch Lock

Has anyone here replaced the barrel in a Alko hitch lock? Lost our keys to the caravan, lock smith couldn't pick it to remove it and as he is unfamiliar with the lock suggested I ask around before he drills it out. If the barrel is a stock item he can drill out the old one an fit the new on.

Other option is to buy a new one or a secondhand one, so I'm open to offers.

Alko list loads of spare parts on their website so you should be able to get what you need:

My problem is that the Hitch Lock is fitted to the caravan (Locked), to remove it we risk damaging the unit its self. New parts £36+Postage+Fitting, but if I can find a seconhand at the right price it might be better.

Off to France on the 5th and still need to sort out the Hitck Lock, Door Lock, and all the Hatch locks. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Have you asked the supplying dealer of the van or manufacturer for the key number, you might be able to just order a new key.

If you didn't buy it new the old owners may have registered it with Alko themselves, I seem to remember you could.

If it's the same one as mine, the body is made of brass whilst the moving bit is cheap chromed steel.
I had to drill mine out whilst attached to the car/towball. Awkward but easy enough. The replacement lock was bought from the local caravan shop for seven quid.

Then the wife found the keys in the bottom of her handbag...........
