HI Guys,
whats the best Alloy wheel cleaner?
I am using Wonder Wheels at the moment,I was wondering if there is something more powerful and easy to use.
I do alot of miles (800 per week) so something that would get the tar spots and road film off easier would be a winner!!
Cheers

Wonder Wheels is very strong and acidic. It is OK for heavy use but must be washed off properly after use. If this doesn't remove all the tar and brake dust then you could try a clay bar. Once clean, seal the wheels with something like Chemical Guys Wheel Guard, and then a wash with soap and water once a week will keep them clean. I also use Very Cherry Wheel Cleaner from Autobrite which can be used neat or diluted at 10:1 for regular cleaning and this stuff is brilliant.

meguiars wheel brightener works well for me, and its dilutable up to the strength you need depending how dirty your wheels are. Good value as well, i think it was £15 for 3ltrs or something similar. Try putting a sealant on your wheels once they are clean and that should make them easier to clean next time.Badda bing.......How you doin'?

Sonax extreme wheel rim cleaner is very aggressive in removing dirt, pad residue, disc particles etc.
We have to run compatibility tests for paint finishes on calipers and wheels, and tend to use the stronger systems. such as an Hydrochloric acid based system, Ie Auto Glym No7, a strong alkali system - (strangely not many are available in the UK), and we import a Turtle wax product from America via Australia - Turtle Wax platinum wheel cleaner T-426 based on Potassium Hydroxide amongst other chemicals. and the Sonax material which has both an acid and a surfactant in and a PH of 7. ie fairly neutral
I have tried them all on the Disco and found IMHO the Sonax works the best.

Yep, Mr Muscle convert here too, providing you don't leave it on for long.
Wonder wheels is apparently brick cleaner, or so I was told by someone in the trade.
Defo worth waxing your wheels after cleaning as it does help stop the brake dust from settling on the alloys.
I'm sure JKP will be along with a professional opinion.
For stubborn area's get stuck in with a toothbrush, turn it over and use the softish plastic back to scrape the residue away.Welcome "Lola"

if they are VERY dirty, try an oven cleaner then rinse thourougly
if just dirty, use Bilbery wheel cleaner, don't put it anywhere else but the rim, let work for a few seconds and agitate with a dedicated brush (you could use a cloth or sponge i guess) it is really a good product
a wax, and even better a sealant, would help prevent tar to stay there too
