90BHP, your question is probably for Andy?

We decided not to charge the roof to insurance because SWMBO has had about 4 claims in 3 years and we were concerned about the impact on premiums, which already cost about as much as a Zone 1-4 season ticket.

Anyway, a few months later, the heated windscreen broke and we decided to do it on the insurance. It was about 950 euro. God knows what next year's premium will be. Rolling Eyes

Yep you are right, was to original post. In UK Glass claims and damage to car caused by broken glass do not "count" against you and are not seen as accident claims.

Guys

Update for all:

The Stealer is in Tonbridge...

I checked on the insurance with the insurance company (Admiral), and it is not covered under the glass policy so this would be a fully fledged claim. With a protected no claims bonus in place, but a two strikes in three years rule, I was reluctant to claim. Stealer has subsequently agreed to do the work at his cost.

The glass is a specialist job - uses special bonding agents and the like - so the stealer has even had to subcontract out the work. Rest assured I will be checking the finish when it comes back Twisted Evil

As to the strength of the stuff, you need to remember that, as I understand them, the crash test rules mean that the glass must stay intact in a rollover, so even the largest of us heavy set chaps is unlikely to do too much damage. It is also laminated, which is why I was happy to run around with it broken on holiday as there was no chance of a leak or the roof breaking whilst we waited for repairs.

Hunt Grange by any chance??????? Never never never use them. Totally awful. Kent area, I use Barrets of Ashford, and you get a nice courtsey car dropped off.

However I will be using Nick @ Yeovil in the future.
