Alternative oil to ZF Lifeguard 8

Is this any good for our 8 speed autobox?

Looking to do an oil change myself. Been looking at alternatives to the zf oil due to cost...

Is this ok?

Says it's suitable as an alternative for ZF Lifeguard 8, but wanted to check with you lot first.

Have a look at this one, seems to be used by others as an alternative, but don’t quote me on that 😉

Cheers, will do. Just works out more expensive. Saw the Mannol AG60 for around the same price as the Millers. Could do with a list of suitable oils for gearboxes, diffs, transfer cases etc as a reference on the site.

Thumbs Up

ZF only approve two oils, Lifeguard 8 and I can’t recall the name of the other, but it’s not the one you mention.

Anyone can write “Ok for ?” On the bottle but your gear box will cost a fortune to replace so its your choice.

There is a thread on FFRR written by a member who is an autobox designer/repairer, as well as a LR owner who strongly advises against using non-approved fluid.
