Alternator dead or radio/head unit gone - *** FIXED *** |
|
As of this weekend, suddenly my radio head unit does not work anymore. LCD does not turn on and unit is completely dead. I have a 2006 D3 SE.
Fitted a new battery (Exide EA1000) about 6 months ago.
I checked fuses 42 and 43 which I believe are related to the amp and instrument cluster. Fuses seem ok.
Tested the voltages on the battery. With ignition off, voltage is 12.6 V so that seems ok. However, with engine running the voltage is only 13.55 V. I know voltage depends on temperature and so on, but it still seems low to me?
Could this be an indication my alternator is on it's way out? I already replaced the alternator a couple of years ago with a refurbished one....
ANy ideas?
TIA
**** FIXED ****
Weird...pulled Fuse 53 again, fuse in good order, put it back and problem solved.
Should I maybe replace the fuse anyway?
