Hello all new to this forum it seems very informative.I have a disco3 in and there was no ambient temp reading on the dash just ---degrees. So first thought was dodgy sensor so got a new one and plugged it in still the same so looked a bit harder and found wires broke behind bumper.Bingo i thought so joined wires and now i have a reading of -40 showing on dash with new sensor and old one has any body got any ideas. Thanks alot for reading this cheers.Wizz

Hi Wizz80 and welcome,
In making the repairs, could you have reversed the wires?

Alternatively, you could have a short.

Best Wishes,

My Disco had a exterior temperature reading issue compared to fake oil pressure warning. Temperature was jumping between -40 and +10 (causing a nice pling everytime you pass the ice warning temperature). The issue was caused by a water leak in the left side driver (LHD car) windscreen pillar plastic part. Basically it leaks in between the plastic and the pillar and the water flows through the lowest clip mounting hole directly into the area where most electric connectors are under / behind the dashboard. To fix it in my car I just purchased a set of new windscreen pillar plastic parts (the part number has been modified twice - get the latest one).

Good Luck

Nikolaus
