AMK or Hitachi

Is there anyway to tell if you have an AMK or Hitachi compressor without taking the cover off Question

I have an IID Tool if that helps as I'm looking to flash the IPC but they suggest you also flash the suspension ECU as well.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Hitachi has 2 pipes going into the cover, one above the other

AMK has 2 pipes too, but one comes out the compressor body, goes down first, then loops round and back up, and has a quick release pipe joiner to attach it to original pipework

Thumbs Up

The AMK bracket is visible against the chassis as the new cover is different whereas the Hitachi is not the old cover fully enclosed the compressor Thumbs Up

IID can fool you if you have AMK running hitachi software, which is the only solution on some MY's apparently (flack will no doubt expand further iirc)

I wasn't aware of any reason why the AMK software cannot be used on some model years. I've yet to run into a problem so grateful for an explanation.

Flack would be the man to expand Robbie Thumbs Up
I just know he's found a need to wind it back to older versions of software to get rid of issues on at least one occasion......again, IIRC Thumbs Up

Took the cover off in the end just to confirm, from looking from the NSR I could see the loop Mikey said but wanted to confirm. Turns out it's an AMK from 2013

Flashed the IPC ECU then according to IID tool the current suspension firmware was set to AMK so decided to leave it. Sounds like the previous owner took it to the steeler for the new compressor who flashed the ECU whilst they were at it. Thumbs Up

AMK software flash issue....

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but, I’m having issues flashing the new AMK software onto a 2010 D4.

The original Hitachi compressor’s bracket was completely gone and we decided to change the whole unit instead of refurbishing the old one. The new AMK unit is now fitted but keeps coming up with the fault code -

C1A20-64 (AF) Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure

This happens about 10 seconds after the compressor fires up. I keep clearing the code but it always comes back and then it says ‘normal height only.’

I can’t seem to get the ecu flashed with the AMK software. I have a GAP iid tool and it gets as far as checking the voltage but then says ‘aborted’ about a second later.

I’ve tried a reset of the car with the iid, and also used a big charger to keep the voltage up at about 14v but it makes no difference.

Has anyone had this issue or is there anything else I can try?

Because it looks like I might have to take the AMK one off and buy a Hitachi or refurb the old one.
