The Bluetooth connection between my 2010 D4 and phones has been working great until yesterday. Currently my phone, Moto G7 Plus, connects to the car, but doesn't appear to fully initialise and eventually drops and reconnects. And it just keeps doing this.
The phone recently received an over the air upgrade to Android 10, so I suspect that has caused the issue. To back that assumption up I have been able to successfully pair and use my work phone, Moto G7 Power, with the car. That phone is still on Android 9.
I have tried removing the paired device on my G7 Plus and re-pairing and a complete reset of all wireless connections on the phone. Internet research suggests that the upgrade may have changed firmware and/or software on the phone which is causing an incompatibility, but that patching the car should fix. Knowing that firmware and software updates for cars are likely very slow to develop I'm not holding my breath.
Tomorrow I will hopefully have some time to look at the firmware versions on the car, but does anyone know if patches for bluetooth have been released recently? I have an IID, so will collect details and contact Gap.

A couple of years or so ago, I had a similar problem with an Apple update. The phone would connect and would start playing a music track before dropping out and simply not reconnecting. I tried it in our Mini with the same result. Apple insisted that it was the cars’ systems that were at fault (they would!), but a bit of research showed that loads of different car makes were affected. This went on for quite a while, but after a couple more updates (and just when I was at the point of digging out an old phone/iPod), lo and behold everything started working again.

The actual issue is probably with both. The Android update breaking something on the car because the car is out of date. Apple are happier to do that, as they generally control their whole ecosystem, there it's a potential revenue generator for them. (Just one of the reasons I won't touch Apple kit with a barge pole.)

I'm on Android 10 (Google Pixel 4) and all is fine. In the words of the IT Crowd... Have you tried switching it off and back on again? (Or unpairing and pairing it again)

Im guessing if you delete the pairing from both and then re pair the bluetoof connect n you will probably find its back working again Must stop buying shiny toys....
Further playing around with the car this afternoon. As per my original post I had already deleted the pairing on my phone, but this time I removed the pairing to the car on my phone and rebooted my phone. Still no luck getting paired fully.
I also tried changing the pairing setting on my phone, to only allows calls and no address book sync but still no luck.
Next thought was a hard reset on the car. Timely as the car decided the battery was too low. Therefore current start is battery disconnected from the car and CTek connected. The +ve and -ve cables are currently shorted via a heavy duty jump cable, so once the battery has more charge I can be sure the hard reset is successful.

Also is there a way to remove pairing from the car? As far as I can tell the car just listens for connections and dynamically allows connections. I can't find anything in the menus to show devices paired to the car.

Hi, It's a MY12 on a 2012 plate.
On mine, I went to settings and deleted the phone from directly from the car. I did it literally 4 or 5 days ago when I picked up my new Pixel as I'd smashed my Samsung S8 and it'll be too old to be covered on the insurance I have through work.
I'd got my s8, the wife's s8 and my son's Tablet in the list. I just deleted both the s8 phones directly from the car. I then paired the new phone (which is Android 10) by turning on my phones bluetooth and then pairing a new device car to device.
On mine there's options to do car to device or device to car. I tried device to car first but it didn't play ball, but that may have been me not doing something right.
These are the instructions from my manual. It doesn't say what happens once you have paired 5 phones. My guess is it drops the phone which last connected the longest time ago. Since I've owned the car I've previously paired 4 phones without issue.

It is definitely not Android 10 on my 2016 Landmark. My connection was playing up the same way on a Galaxy A40 last couple of weeks or so then I updated to 10 and it now works perfectly again!.

Since the original post I've now received the 1 February 2020 security update. This means the connection now drops as soon as it's made, so the car effectively isn't seeing the phone
I did post on the official Lenovo/Motorola forums and one of their support agents is helping. I've captured debug logs from the phone and sent them, so hopefully that will tell them what the issue is and maybe get a fix.
