Another ‘air-ride’ issue

Candidly, I fear I’m in a bit of trouble.

Facing 500 miles home on Saturday with no suspension.

Compressor runs (now with random added mechanical noises) but provides no inflation.

Down on bump-stops and hopping like a kangaroo.

I could really use a prestidigitator.

Thanks

Pete

Tbh any distance at all in access mode is going to be very uncomfortable and possibly dangerous.

Pete, Stuart

many thanks.

I’m minded to the same thing. I can get the compressor to run with a ‘bridge’ on the relay, but no action at all.

Sadly now on a loader home.

I’ll revert when I start disassembly.

Thanks

Truck finally delivered home yesterday. Very Happy A few marks where I assume someone left something on the bonnet whilst in storage. Otherwise all good.

Now to address the suspension.

Not sure it’s a good idea, but I bought this lot for a system bypass whilst waiting.

Hopefully take a look at the compressor later today if the rain holds off.

Is the continuous electrical hum from the compressor normal when everything is off?

Not too difficult to remove the compressor, once I worked out what was going on with the upper mounting bolt.

Looks like an uncompressed riv-nut, not holding in the chassis.

Someone's been here before. Plenty of mastic, new cylinder (not sure about internals yet) and a new air-dryer. Assume with desiccant.

Can someone please advise if this is AMK or Hitachi?

Also thoughts on what next?

Thanks

Found an image from gstuart (thanks) which confirms it's an Hitachi compressor.

Not too difficult to see the problem.

The bolt holding the con-rod to the crank shaft has unwound leaving the piston with no drive and therefore no air to the suspension.

Swarf everywhere from budget conrod 'lighten and balance'.

The gods of sustainability dictate that I repair and reuse, so, it now makes pressure.

Got to at least give it a go.

Put an AMK one in while you have the option, will hopefully save you problems in the future... well... will just leave something else to break instead Laughing

Nige

is that just a straight plug n play or do I need any additional parts.

I’m stalled in the refit as I don’t have any thread lock for the crank bolt.

Also need to sort the bracket mounting bolts as they’re all not-too-good rivnuts

You need to change the software if going for AMK

Pete

Is that the case for 2005 D3?

Also any thoughts on where I get the captive nuts for the mounts?

All 3 replacements are a bit floaty

Thanks
