Another FBH question.
Apologies for yet another FBH question. Tried searching but just too many hits.
So I know the FBH kicks in on startup when the temperature is below a certain temperature. So today I start the D3 and because its 4 degrees it kicks in. No problem, engine is cold and needs a little help.
I drive 10 miles or so the engine is operating at normal temperature when I stop at the filling station. I didn’t notice any smoke so I assume its done its job and now powered off.
So after filling up (and outside temp is still 4 degrees) I start up again and pull away a few yards before I pause in traffic waiting to leave the forecourt and there is smoke bellowing out the FBH heater again.
Is this normal that the FBH always kicks in when the outside temp is cold even though the engine is now fully warmed up?

I would say that it may well be normal for it to light up again after pausing to fuel up. Even after 10 miles. The D3 engine does not create much heat at low speeds.

You're right it is not 72c
Quote:
Supplementary heating is requested by the ATCM while the engine is running if the ambient temperature is less than 5 °C (41 °F) and the engine coolant temperature is less than 75 °C (167 °F).
The ATCM cancels supplementary heating if the ambient temperature increases to 5 °C (41 °F), the engine coolant temperature increases to 75 °C (167 °F), or the engine stops.

Are these values programmable? Can someone increase the threshold to say 7 or 9 degrees C?
