Another interesting tidbit about the D3

Came across this in some technical data I was reading on the D3:

Crash Unlocking
When the ignition switch is in position II, if a crash that triggers the air bags
occurs the CJB unlocks all of the doors. After 3 seconds, the CJB unlocks the
doors again, in case a lock button is pressed during the crash, by flailing limbs for
example. The CJB is informed of the crash by a status message from the
restraints control module, on the medium speed CAN bus, which changes from
'no crash' to 'crash'. The CLS will also perform crash unlocking if a 'no crash'
status message is not received every 500 milliseconds.
The vehicle cannot be centrally locked again until the status message has been
reset to 'no crash' by the restraints control module

I just thought that was yet another thoughtful touch. Thanks Land Rover!

And apparently the air bags will go off if the D3 detects an imminent roll over - side slopes included.

According to LRE, not tested this myself of course Wink

CJB= Central Junction Box (behind the glovebox with lots of fuses, one of the "brain" in the car).

Hi Simon,

This doesn't sound right......an airbag will deploy AND deflate in less than 250ms...considering a vehicle would probably take around 1 to 2 seconds to roll over, it would seem a bit pointless. Whistle

Or am I missing something? Shocked

The curtain airbags are different, they stay inflated to give some protection in the event of multiple rollover scenarios. Manual refers I think....
 Cheers
