Aquaplane AT3's
I have a D4 with 4 x General Grabber AT3s (255/55/19) and the car seems to aquaplane really badly, but the worrying part is that its never straight. When I hit standing water on the motorway the car veers off to one side enough to make passengers worry, and heads wobble with the change in direction.
I did have it weeks ago almost put me into the barrier, and since then its not been raining as bad, but over the weekend we have had plenty of water and its just been as bad. I am not going excessively fast (55-60mph) - When I see the standing water I take foot off accelerator, I am not using cruise control, I dont touch the brakes.
Any ideas?2010 Disco 4 HSE

Have you had a 4 wheel alignment done in tight tolerance mode by an outfit which knows what it's doing?

To answer a few questions..
D4 is on 140k, just had MOT and nothing found, no play in anything.
Tyres have been on about 4 months, and about 8kmiles, so still plenty of tread on them.
I have tried various pressures, currently running high at 40psi.
When I did have the new tyres fitted, I had a full alignment done - It wasnt a hunter, but it was in TTM. I will look at booking it into a hunter centre2010 Disco 4 HSE

I'm not really surprised, I've never managed to have a Grabber in my life that I can say it’s a decent tire, sorry but that's my truth!!lost in translation!

In standing water, your tyres will clear the water better if they are under power. If you reduce the power and the tyre loses contact with the tarmac it will slow down to less than the road speed and reduce the amount of water it can clear. The water will get pushed along in front of the tyre and increase lift and drag which will try to turn the car towards the side with the deepest water.
If the water is only on one side of the car, maintain power and expect a pull to the side. If the water is deep under all wheels and you lose contact with the road, reduce power very slightly to allow the car to slow down enough to sink through the water. Don't take your foot completely off the accelerator and definitely don't brake.
I've not driven on the AT3 yet, but I've only noticed aquaplaning on AT or AT2 tyres that are more than 60% worn.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Found on a RRS aquaplane probs with Grabbers AT2, just did not inspire any confidence in standing water.
Found reducing pressures that I used to run a little higher than norm made a big difference, would give that a try.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

I haven't had a problem with either the Grabber AT or AT3 on either of my RRS in the wet (so far!).Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

AT2,s
I had General Grabber AT2’s on my Disco 2 and that was as twitchy as anything in the wet. They wernt particularly good in the snow either. No where near as good as my Pirelli Scorpion M&S that I took off.Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

I run GG AT2s @ about 40/42 psi and don't have any problems in the wet at all or in the snow we had earlier this year.
I have been running them for a long time now but I am still undecided about moving over to AT3s when they need replacing. I might go for some duratracs but undecided yet.07 Java Black TD V6 D3, EGRs Blanked, Tow bar, Full dog guard & divider, LED Spots , DRLs, GG ATs, RLD Sump guard, RLD Spare Wheel Protector, D4 LED Rear Lights, Limo tints on boot and Midnight tint on rear windows, Kenwood screen with Garmin nav, Rear cameras, D4 Steering wheel with flappy paddles, T-max split charge system, Tree sliders, Prospeed roof rack & Ladder, Alisport fast road inter cooler,

Go Road Tyre..not AT?
Also used AT on a D2 and had no problems whatsoever in all conditons.
The AT3's on my D4 are absolutely fine. Surefooted, and do what's expected in all weathers for an AT tyre.
Can only suggest that new Road biased tyres may suit your driving style better, giving you maximum water clearance for the deep water crossings at speed.2011 MY D4 HSE
