Aquaplaning
Had my D3 for a couple of weeks now
Seems really unstable when it hits a puddle
My defender justs ploughs on through and our Berlingo seemed to handle them better too
Is this common?
tyres?

Mines solid going through puddles, but I do have MTR's on which makes a difference. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi greameelliot, My 08D3 is new to me but it has 18k on original goodyears and it planes at speed like any other vehicle with 4mm of tread left! its a 4 x 4 but on ice, snow or water at speed it slides like a boat

Graeme, what tyres does your Defender have? I'm guessing less road biased than your Disco? That could make a difference. Bodsys Brake Bible

Oh I well understand that just because something is 4x4 doesnt mean it is unstoppable
Just wondering if any1 had any comment on the matter
Think the tyres on mine are Continentals?

Sorry Graeme ...didin't realise it was your real name My warped sense of humor is an acquired taste
Nevertheless, I can't believe that a Berlingo handles better in puddles ...what are you running on ? ....slicks 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Defender has BF Goodrich ATs
Any1 have these fitted?
make much difference to mpg?
defender had them fitted when bought and 35k later they still have plenty tread so seem to be quite long lasting too

Like Bodsy, I run 95% of the time on MTR's which are very robust in wet weather21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

not slicks as said think they are contis
prob bout half worn
prob just slightly more side to side movement than the berlingo due to extra height
wife has noticed it too
maybe just more rain recently!!!!

When I had my std Wranglers on, then yes it 'skipped' over water rather than cut through it. With more aggresive tyres on, they'll cut throuigh the water better. They also seem to reduce the forward overbonnet spray that also takes place (well it used to). Bodsys Brake Bible
