Aquarium behind the dashboard..........
Hi fellas, just wondered if any of you guys can shed some light on this for me
I've experienced a couple of problems with my brakes in the last week.
One is that whilst going down a steep hill slowly, the brake pedal went 'hard', just as if the servo wasn't assisting
Two, is when stationary with the engine running. If i press the brake pedal hardish, i can hear what i can only describe as an aquarium behind the dash. It's as if there's air passing through a liquid. This stops the moment i take my foot off the brake pedal.
Like i said i just wondered if anybody had experienced this before?
It's an 06 HSE and it hasn't had the modification done yet.
Thanks, Garry

Russel, no it hasn't yet. I spoke with Bodsy at the weekend and he recommended that i get that done asap.
Where does the oil come from?
If i have got oil in there, do they need to replace any other parts i.e. servo?
Cheers, Garry

You need to unclip this Vaccum pipe
Shake the pipes, any oil means VacPump failure and a problem. Usual remedy is new VacPump, although I think LR do a seal kit now. You'll need the contaminated Brake Fluid replaced too.

Thanks Mac, does the recall cover the Vac-pump if it's ?
If not, has anybody replaced or refurbed one?

That I wouldn't know. Mine was replaced under warrenty, along with the servo through oil contamination. I would have thought that if a recall finds linked faults you'll be covered.

Right, i called Landrover today ref 're-call' on this brake vacuum pipe. They told me that it wasn't a re-call, it was their 'continuous improvement works' and it was more likely to be chargeable, as the parts weren't re-called, they have just been modified
So the fault should looked at by a dealer and in certain circumstances, Landrover will pay the bill.
So is it a re-call or not?
Thanks again guys
