Archos 504 - New Purchase - problems

Received my Archos 504 end of last week. what a great piece of kit.

Just a couple of problems I am hoping someone can help me with :

1) it records videos in .avi format, yet when I copy to PC and try to view via windows (vista) media player 11, all I get is the sound and no video

2) When I plug in the head phones nothing happens, the sound still contiues out of the internal speakers but not the headphones. Ive emailed archos.com but no response yet

Any help apreciated.

Get VLC video player, it's likely that you don't have the correct codec installed on your PC.

For 2 you'll need the advice of another Archos user Smile 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

On mine I use the 2nd set of buttons to select either built-in speaker or headphones. Yours han't got these buttons, but I presume works in a similar vein - although if I plug in headphones I get sound through both them and the speaker unless I select headphone sound.


Not had a problem with sound on my videos (also WMP on Vista), but as I do a lot of videos I do have a lot of codecs loaded. Disco 5 HSE Lux
