Auto box , revs raise go nowhere then engages |
|
Car in for 2nd service 20K miles Monday so will be asking Dealer but any ideas other than Gearbox needs replacement?, today came to a junction and went to go , the revs went up to 3.5K went nowhere, moved gear lever to neutral and back , worked fine. Driving up road at 30 and the revs rose then came down and we went on again. This happened over and over. 1st time this has happened.
What are the likely causes? Is this a common fault.
Cheers
Chris

That could be down to a multitude of reasons.
Is there any fluid leaking from under the vehicle either front or rear end of gearbox?

Thanks cracked it , it's the sticky / stiff selector and bad driving habit of putting hand on gear lever to slip into neutral and back at lights etc. There's a sticky to fix but as it's in tomorrow I'll have the dealer sort.
Thanks

Sounds very much like a sticking or binding selector cable adjuster in the gearbox selector bush...ask them if fault code P0850 has been logged as a DTC. If so they may have to adjust or replace the cable assembly.
