AutoBox F and E faults, faulty contacts? |
|
Hi there,
First, a few quick words of introduction.
I am the proud and happy owner of a 2005 D3 SE (named Tony), that replaced my beloved D4 S (Betsy) that was stolen in front of my house 3 years ago. We (Tony, my son Lulu and my wife) live in the south of France near Marseille...
Tony has been fantastic, thanks to his good nature, a solid maintenance schedule (this forum and the the French Landmania Forum have been outstanding sources of tips, tricks and help) and a few preventive repairs.
Lately tough, the big boy gave me the old Xmas tree (FYI brake switch/light bulbs have been replaced) and a leak of transmission liquid (autobox). The autobox oil and filter were changed, while putting on a new vacuum control sleeve... Now, the leak is seemingly fixed but every now and then I got F or even E fault (that means no ignition whatsoever!). The IIDTool picks up a communication default alright, that can be "fixed" by gently fiddling with the bunch of wires getting into the box (at the level of the new vacuum control sleeve).
The indy mechanic that takes care of the old boy and myself are flabbergasted.
What do we do next? Is that an already described issue? I must have read a few hundred posts and I apologize if I have missed the answer.
Thanks you guys in advance, any advice will be helpful.
Cheers!
Oli
