I've been reading the article online, interesting how the designer doesn't want to "upset traditionalists" I think he's failed in that respect. He completely abandoned the Fl2 owners.

It will retain a stepped roofline to accommodate the 7 seats and will retain the practicality of the current model. We will see.

I like the look of it, but the price will put me out.

United States 2005 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Java BlackLR3

I'm still not following how LR plan to use the fake vertical air intakes on the lower front bumper in the D5 and 2017 RRS. Both will be similar in shape and size and also share the same design cues, seems like LR are mixing the models too much...

Also, those images above must have 24" wheels with +35 offset, real version wheels will look nothing like that....

United Kingdom 2015 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Auto Causeway GreyDiscovery 4

It's a very interesting and exciting time... A new Defender for those that want a modern interpretation of the defender with a huge jump in terms of modernity, discovery for those that want the ultimate in practicality and luxury combined.

Let's face it the current D3/D4 took the original RR ethos and delivered perfectly whereas L322 onwards have been far more about luxury and competing with S Class and Bentleys

Only my opinion but, to me, my D4 is the luxury off roader and practical family SUV I always wanted my previous FFRR to be.

Can't wait for the exciting choices we will be given in the next 3-4 years Thumbs Up

I think the RRS has intercoolers or something behind where those air intakes are. Presumably D5 will too.

I have said all along g tgat the D5 will be out 1st half on 2016 many said thst was rubbish and it would not be out till 2017 or later. I have also said the price will be very competitive and I still think it will be. Yes there will be a price rise new technologies new model etc but I do not believe it will be the price hike many are forcasting........ I hope Very Happy

There's a heck of a lot of nonsense being spouted in that article. Rolling Eyes

a plusher, more upmarket cabin that will be no less practical or versatile than that of the current model.

There's no such thing.

He said that, as much as he loved the current car, it was always seen as specialised in its design and ethos, so the new model would be “more universally appealing, without compromises”.

That is a compromise in itself. Everyone has different tastes, and nothing can fit all of them. They think there's no value in a niche market - a key step to loosing your identity.

It strikes me that the D3 is designed, it's very well acclaimed and LR make a great success of it; now they suddenly change their tune and think just about everything is wrong with it. The D3/4 has great style and is very popular for it. The upright stance makes for a comfortable place to be and a large loadspace. The heafty chassis has made it renowned as the best tow car out there. LR are now telling us that's all wrong. Rolling Eyes

LR seem to be ignoring this factor, which rings true for so many:

LR's ideas have been warped and their self-important, childish accountants have started to run the business...

I know that there is a lot of staff training booked for September, usually this happens before first deliveries arrive. I think there will be some actual vehicles touring the showrooms May June for those that have placed deposits Whistle

Australia 2013 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Auto Indus SilverDiscovery 4

I think there is 1 driving factor in the design of all new vehicles (my thoughts anyway) stupid pedestrians have forced the front of vehicles to be pedestrian friendly (if there is such a thing) in a collision with them.
I have a new discovery on the way to OZ as we love our current D4 so much even with all the tech upgrades on the next, and I am a huge tech junkie. re price I like the Discovery partly because of the price. High price breeds exclusivity. The more exclusive the better the resale (subject to other factors). Also our new Discovery wont look like a AU$132000+ vehicle but that's the whole point for us so much so we even got the same colour so most people wont know we upgraded (except for the forums I am active in).
Personally the next Discovery 'full' I think will be more desirable for Discovery junkies than the Discovery sport it will just need time for the ones that have to have the new Discovery so they can say so to prove us wrong or for Land Rover to modify further to fix the issues that only real world use can bring to light.
I have been told by our dealer that all slots for the Discovery a gone full stop. A week after we ordered ours there was nothing left available and that last one is supposed to roll off the line by April 2016.
I am off the soap box, NEXT.
