Removed the passenger side kick panel to find the red/blue/black wires (same as I did for my 56 base) and it's a different loom.
Had a good ferret around the centre consul and can only find the heated seat connectors and 12v supply so no luck there
Can anyone update me on the best way to connect aux?
thanks for help

Simoniz - thanks, I'll pm Wiggs. Feeling a bit sore because of various minor mods on the 09 my which mean my tow loom, rear flaps, aux input etc etc taken from my 56 my don't fit!

That does not sound good - the things you mention should not have been altered for 09?.
Anyone else can help here??

May be a daft question but how do you actually get into the back of the radio ?? Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

Radio is easy to remove, you pull the surround trim off (from the bottom) and the radio is held in with torx screws. 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

when you say "you pull the surround trim off (from the bottom) " is their chance of damage or lost clips etc etc because I'm petrified of making a ba**s up of the new motor!
Once removed is it just a case of cut and connect into existing wiring

Unlikely to damage anything but the metal clips can ping off, easy enough to push back in place though. It requires a firm pull towards the gear shift, be brave 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Go on you know you want to!! - a GOOD tug and your in just make sure the doors are closed so that any flying clips do not go AWOL.

Just going to be doing the same to mine.
Is that right that none of the above you mention fit
Is it going to be worth me removing all the bits if they don't fit

Well I removed from my 07MY (56 plate) GS and fitted to 58 plate (09MY) XS
Ticket clip - no problem
Tow Bar - no problem
Tow Electrics - no problem
Xenons - no problem
19" alloys - no problem
Matts - fronts different fittings
Tow Electrics - don't forget the adaptor plate from rear of white socket - d'oh
Mantec - you have to trim about 5mm off front bumper on both sides - well hidden behind original cover or Mantec plate, so not as bad as it sounds
Other than that saved a few quid !!! "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
