Average price for Gearbox Flush

Hi, just wondering what the average cost is for a gearbox flush? and can any body recommend a place in the east/west mids.

I take it these are not done as part of LR standard serving? I've not long had the car and I would like to get the box flushed as a precaution measure.

It costs around the £240/260 mark depending on location! Pm bodsy on here he’s mobile and comes highly recommended! Just noticed yours is a D4 I’m sure it costs more to flush an 8 speed box! Thumbs Up

My experience here..... similar price as suggested. 8-speed a little bit more though.

At what mileage/age is it wise to do a gearbox flush on a D4?

The manufacturer, ZF, recommend the following:

"Depending on the driving style, ZF recommends a transmission oil change every 80,000 to 120,000 km or after eight years at the latest." (every 50k-75k miles)

I hope this helps.

Thank you knwatkins.

Is there any simple way of checking if it hs been done by LR

We bought a D4 just over 3 years old with 57k+miles on the clock.

It’s not part of the service schedule to do it at that mileage, so won’t be routinely done by a main dealer. Would need the previous owner to request and have it done.

Do LR dealers normally have a mega flush machine?

As Rob said above, it's not part of the LR service schedule and because of this, most owners are unaware of the recommendation by the OEM. The likelihood of it being done previously therefore would be slim. Unless of course, the previous owner was a member of a great forum, such as this one for example Wink

Yeah thought as much. I believe the drop and fill method isnt anywhere near as good as only something like 50% of the old oil is removed.

Geoff. did mine a while back, but i believe he is out of the game now.

Geoff has retired I believe and donated his flush machine to a garage in Sussex somewhere.....
Quite a few places do it now....e..g MTS4x4 in Alton, Gotts in Alton, Evans in Dorchester, Dartford Transmissions (Martin Hind), All Track 4x4 nr Malvern , JAS in York.............
