I changed the factory screw fastenings for little M8 (maybe M6) hexagonal head self-tapping screws years ago.

You cannot get a socket through the panel gap and even if you could, you cannot align it to the hex pattern in order to undo them.

A mere few pence to fix. I thought I picked this trick up from this forum - not sure - been asleep since then!

Anyway - sorted Thumbs Up

The screws are readily accessible through the panel gap between the tailgate and the lights. You only need a screwdriver............ Big Cry

Fit some awkward fasteners......... now Thumbs Up

Same as Kilovolt I replaced the screws with hex head self tappers. Presumably you can get a pozi screwdriver through the gap but not a socket

So what do these securing screws look like then?

Any link to some online to share?

I do wonder though if by changing the screws to something the theft isn't expecting are they likely to cause more damage to the vehicle trying than if they just pinched the light units with stock screws?

And a removal kit not much bigger than a matchbox easily fits in a jacket pocket.

Hence use hex headed self tappers. The socket won’t pass through the gap Whistle
