Hello everyone. I left D3 ownership in 2013 due to parting out my 55reg for a brand new focus st 🙄. Since then many cars have been and gone, even an old pajero. My wife bought herself a Evoque a few months back and so giving me an itch I needed to scratch. So I started looking for D3 or an extremely cheap d4. A fee weeks of searching and losing out to people getting in before me. I only had a budget of 5k really. And expected to find a not so great one for 4 to 5k. I looked (virtually) at a good 10 or 20. Some had lots of bits done. Some had belts done Some had suspension faults. I was about to try and start narrowing a few down to a short list especially as living in Essex and most being up north or Cornwall didn't fancy dragging the wife back and forth across the country. The morning of my list making a took one final look on auto trader and sorted by most recent and saw avery shiny d3 with D4 front end. Mmmmmm net photo. Oooo stormer alloys.... Next photo oooooo SE so no sun roof worries. Next photo, hold on Iv seen that reg. I rushed out to the wife's office in the summer house slipping all over the frost on the decking. She couldn't belive it. It was the car we bought our youngest home from the hospital😪🙂.... I know and it still has the D4 lights on the back. We were both so happy.
So I bought it.
The end.
Turns out the ford dealership moved it to a used car place that suited this better literally 7 miles away. And the nice chap I bought it from got it from there who lives 40 odd miles away. So I was it's 2nd and now 5 owner.
In its life away has had a few works done. The side steps rotted away, scuffs on the front and rear bumper. Kids slime tipped on the carpet and a cracks on the dash.
He did add a button for cold starts. Has done the RR screen change, which is not very bright😔 and put a westbo thingy switch inside but I'm sure he said it's not wired to the FBH. I have yet to open the bonnet to see if the wiring loom is there. Oh and the arm rest pivet bolt cover is still missing from 9 years ago. So if anyone has one floating around in black.😉.
And some side steps. And a new steering wheel and a parcel shelf is missing.
Glad to be back amongst the wealth of knowledge even though an awful lot of it goes over my head, such as sorting the brightness out on the screen and fitting what should be an easy rear camera to the rear and plugging in a fakir lead.
Anyway glad to have my old car back and glad to be back on here. Mods:

Seems to be about the same. Feels like renting a home out for 10 years and finding that it's not your home anymore. Need to sort out the niggling issues.seems a bit more responsive pulling away than before. Nice to have the 4x4 screen now too. Mods:

Once a year I checked the gov website to see if it was still taxed and MOTed. But never thought I be in the market for one and on the day I was about to stop searching and shortlist. Coincidence is amazing. Can't wait to wash, clay bar , polish and wax this weekend Mods:

I have a good solid genuine set of side steps from my D4 that have been taking up space in my workshop, You can have them for a donation to the forum if you want them. I'm near Chelmsford.
Can't beat a 55 plate D3 SE, that's why I cant part with mine. 13 years and counting! Stu

I hadn’t given it much thought £10/£20ish that sort of thing.
I think they were only on for about 3years and undamaged, paint flaking off underneath a bit but solid.
